Staff CIP 2008 Birthday Programme at Gracehaven (The Salvation Army)
Objectives • To allow staff to possess skills, knowledge, values and attitudes to be gracious individuals • To understand the duties and responsibilities as a member of the larger community • To lead by example
Background of Gracehaven • A residential home for young people, up to 160 • Ages range from 6 to 17 years old • Most children are sent there because they are beyond parental control • The children have experienced unpleasant experiences due to their family background • Many have neglected their studies • About half of the children are under court orders
Programme for Staff • All staff will be scheduled to visit the home once a year • Staff will go in groups of 9 to 15 • One weekday per month • 4.30pm to 6.00pm • Staff will hold a celebration for the children whose birthdays fall on that particular month • Staff will also interact with the other children there through games and other activities • Staff will bring a birthday cake and also provide refreshments
Duties of Group Leaders • Confirm the members in your group and inform the CIP Coordinator of any changes one week before the visit • Help to see to transport arrangement for the group • Coordinate among the group the members bringing the birthday cake and refreshments • Take attendance on the actual day of the visit
Location of Gracehaven • 3 Lorong Napiri (along Yio Chu Kang Road) • Bus services available are 70, 73, 103 and 854 • Teachers going from Chongfu can take 854 from Yishun Bus Interchange
