  5. When you have thought of Africa in the past did you ever think that there were many groups of people and not just one? • Same goes for the Middle East!!!

  6. Arab • Mixed ethnic group • People who speak Arabic • Two groups: • Nomadic Bedouin • Settled Arabs • Lets Speak Arabic!!!!

  7. Ashanti • Central Ghana • Mother is very important in Ashanti culture • Inherit • Spirit=Father • Flesh and blood=Mother • Golden Stool is sacred

  8. Swahili • East African coast • Speak Swahili • Bantu and Arab influences • Believe in djinns (spirits)

  9. Afrikaans • Descendents of Dutch settlers in South Africa.

  10. Bantu • Located all over Africa • Speak Swahili • They are the ancestors of most African ethnic groups
