  1. September 2012 Updates: Bedtime and the morning after the sleepover Until I finished putting Alma to bed with her regular routine the girls kept busy making stickers garlands.

  2. When Alma was in bed at last (and very annoyed she couldn’t join in the night time fun) I made popcorn for the girls. Jasmin was very curious about how we make our popcorn, as in her family they grow their own corn, dry it and make popcorn in a pot, which I find very cool!

  3. Ah, true sleepover fun: watching a movie dressed in PJs and eating popcorn... The girls set up the chairs in this way (I think they felt like it was a movie theatre like this)

  4. Falling asleep was tricky... In addition to the normal and expected “whispering and giggling in the dark”, Alma would not calm down to sleep so I had to carry her on me for over an hour until she relaxed at last and Hahgoot found it difficult to let go of her regular winding down routine, so became a bit too jumpy and out of sync when it was time to quieten down. Luckily, Jasmin is an amazing “falling-asleep” person and when she dozed off after 10 pm, Hahgoot fell asleep too. So by a quarter to 11 pm it was quiet at last.

  5. In the morning, Hahgoot’s weeks of preparations paid off: she managed to wake up at the same hour as the other girls (7 am) and with a little help from Jasmin, got dressed and did her morning routine without any prompting from me. I was very happy and proud of her. As promised on the “sleepover plan sheet”, they got French toast for breakfast!

  6. After breakfast the monster chase was on!

  7. And while Super Alma buzzed around the room, the girls did some more drawing until it was time to walk Jasmin back home.

  8. After dropping Jasmin off, we walked to the art gallery for a workshop. There we met up with Charlotte Hughes from Hahgoot’s class) and her mother Michelle. We were planning to have a cup of tea while the girls were in session, but then we discovered it was a family workshop and we had to stay with the girls. After a story the girls made cute puppets.

  9. Hahgoot was very tired but coped well with the activities

  10. When the girls finished making their puppets they could do a little show in one of the three theatres. After the craft activity, it was time to start the big treasure hunt in the gallery’s gardens. The girls collected clues enthusiastically.

  11. It wasn’t easy but they found most of them!

  12. After solving the code and having a break with some muffins and brownies from the cafe, they took part in the garden games.

  13. Hahgoot’s favourite part was winning these silly badges and getting teeth shaped candy from the girl who guessed the right amount of candies in the jar. In our next presentation: We celebrate Sukot again, this time with Deena and Emma!
