EMODNET-Hydrography objectives • EU (DG MARE) : service contracts for creating pilot components of EMODNET • EMODNET : To migrate fragmented and inaccessible marine data into interoperable, continuous and publicly available data streams for complete maritime basins • Pilot components : To define processes, best technology and approximate costs of a final EMODNET • Hydrography portal : one of the portals developed as part of the preparatory actions
EMODNET-Hydrography : partnership • 7 partners : MARIS, ATLIS (NL), IFREMER, SHOM (FR), NERC/NOCS (UK), GSI (IE), IEO (ES) • 2 associated partners : ISMAR-CNR (IT), UNEP-GRID Arendal (NO, int. Organization) • 5 data providers : HO’s from Germany, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands and Belgium
EMODNET-Hydrography : approach • To involve institutes, authorities and HO’s in providing hydrographic data sets for producing Digital Terrain Models with resolution of 0.25*0.25 minute • To use a metadata discovery service : SeaDataNet CDI metadata standard • To develop a high-end hydrographic portal : • Powerful spatial database for the DTMs • WMS services (OGC) • Access to the background data via the CDI
