COST's Actions, activities and procedures must evolve to fit within ERA. This willbeachieved by 2014, allowing the fulfilment of COST's mission within the Europe 2020 strategy
COST strategic goals • best performance in itsimplementation; • orienting COST Actions on output; • improvingcooperationwithin COST countries and beyond; • and ensuring good governance.
COST must optimise all itsprocedures To achievethe best qualityperformance: • assessmentof proposals, evaluation and monitoring of COST Actions • reducingthe time from application to start of the activities, • focusingstill more on theirresults and impact
GOAL • Under the direction and responsibility of the Domain Committees, monitored by the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) and coordinated by the COST Office, COST continuously supports and enhances the efficient and effective management of COST Actions and strives to improve and implement transparent and cost-efficient Action assessment, evaluation and monitoring processes.

Working group WG1: Biomaterials with 3 sub-topics: Virus, proteins and peptides, DNA and aptamers. (Jan Van Hest NL). WG2: Biomechanismsand molecular modeling: Interface properties and interaction between molecules and nano- objects. Coupled with instrumentation (Alain Estève FR). WG3: Technology Integration: assembling nano blocks and hybrid systems (organic-inorganic, polymer network and proteins...) (Maria Farsari GR) WG4: BioDevices Demonstrators and applications. At this moment mostly focused on biosensors (JosepSamitier ES).
