Main doctrines • Confucianism- The following of Confucius and his teachings {Chinese god} • Daoism- A simple and honest life made by Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu • Legalism- It was a philosophy emphasizing strict obedience • Buddhism- teachings based on Buddha
Beliefs • Worshipped deities (they believed in an afterlife) • They worshipped their ancestors • Most important God= Tien, god of Heaven • In China there are many statues representing Buddha and Deities.
Sorcerers • They consulted sorcerers AKA Wu • The Wu provided spells to protect people from evil • Most believed in the spiritual world
Christianity in Ancient China • Christianity declined due to persecution during the 10th and 14th centuries. • During this cultural revolution many priests were imprisoned.
