  2. Community Colleges in California • There are 110 community colleges in California. • It is the best way to be admitted to a 4-year university. • Students who attend a community college receive preference to transfer to a University of California (UC) or a State University.

  3. What do community colleges have to offer? • Certificates (Technical Careers) • Transfer Programs • Study Abroad Programs • Honor Programs • Personal Development

  4. ExtendedOpportunityProgramand Services • A state sponsored support program that assists our students in reaching their educational goals. Services: funds to buy textbooks, priority in registration, academic counseling, scholarships, and other services.

  5. Eligibility Requirements for EOPS • Considered a resident of California by the Admissions Office • Take 12units • Have an educational need, example: first generation in the family to attend a university. • Apply for financial aid and eligible for the “Board of Governors Fee Waiver” or have a EFC of zero. www.FAFSA.ed.gov

  6. Who can attend Saddleback Community College? • Anyone over the age of 18 • High school graduates • Non-graduates –18 years or older

  7. Early Bird Program Application period is March 1 - March 27

  8. The Early Bird program is designed for high school seniors and provides the following benefits: • Early application for the Fall 2009 semester • Early matriculation services • Priority enrollment for the Fall 2009 semester Students who complete the “Early Bird” program will register before other new students.
