  2. A Cartogram • Is a map in which space is distorted to feature a particular attribute. Ex) Population, Natural Increase Rate, Number of cars in Population. See State of World Atlas pages 26 & 27, 34 & 35, and 76 & 77. Check at the maps at http://www.worldmapper.org.

  5. A Choropleth • A predefined aerial thematic map that shows certain attributes of an area in a graded color series. Ex) # of College Students, # of Native Americans, Political Systems. See State of World Atlas pages 12 & 13, 18 & 19, most of the maps in this text.

  8. A Dot Map • Is also a thematic map that uses dots to show a particular feature. One dot can represent any number of features and will be explained on each map. We will see this map when we look at population heartbeat film.
