MISSION The Academy for Government Accountability will forge relationships among government, business, academia and interested others to support research and education initiatives and advance thought leadership in bringing transparency and accountability to government financial management. RESURRECTING THE ACADEMY In 2005, the Academy was reintroduced to the AGA National Executive Committee (NEC) with a revised mission Dr. Sri Ramamoorti, Partner, Grant Thornton was named Chair by the NEC AGA committed $200,000 to fund the Academy in supporting basic research projects – “there's nothing so practical as a good theory” (Kurt Lewin) Revised bylaws were presented and approved by the NEC in February 2006 General paragraph
GOVERNANCE BOARD OF TRUSTEES No more than 24 members Must be a member of AGA Equal number of private and public sector individuals Trustee 3-year term, but may be reappointed Appoint Advisory Council Create strategies, policies and procedures Will evaluate recommendations for funding as submitted by Advisory Council Will select and notify the recipients of Academy’s research funds General paragraph
