  8. Class Expectations – “The 3Rs” 3. Ready to LearnWhen the bell rings be in class, seated and prepared with all materials necessary. The door will be closed and locked when the bell rings. Your warm-up will be on the monitor for you to do in your notebook.Make an effort to learn and do not disrupt the learning of others.

  9. Discipline Policy • Warning (verbal and/or non-verbal) • Conference with student, call home • Referral w/ action per the Student Code of Conduct

  10. Consumption of Food/Drink • Water in plastic bottles only • No other liquid allowed • No food in class

  11. Use of Electronics • Phones are to be off and put away. They should not be visible. • iPods and headphones are to be turned off and put away. Theyshould not bevisible.

  12. Bathroom/Nurse • For emergency needs only – only if it involves the 5 “Bs” • Not at beginning or end of the class • Must present your agenda book • Must sign-out on clipboard when leaving class

  13. What Drives Mrs. Parker Nuts? • Standing before the bell rings.The bell does not dismiss class, the teacher does. • Rudeness and ungratefulness.We have a lot to be grateful for in this community. Don’t take it for granted.

  14. Absences • Are unexcused until noted in computer attendance • Class work is noted on student wall and website • Missed paperwork is available in the labeled bin on table for one week • All material is downloaded to our class website on the MHS website: www.middletownhs.org

  15. Absences, cont. • Make-up work is accepted as noted in the district grading policy • Quizzes and tests are to be made up within one week after school. Dates to be noted as needed

  16. Late Arrivals • Knock and wait patiently until door opens • You must have a pass to enter class after the bell rings and have it be excused • No pass = unexcused late

  17. Grading • Process Grades – quizzes, class work, homework, etc. = approximately 30% of total grade • Product Grades – tests, projects, presentations, etc. = approximately 70% of total grade • Total Grade – average of total points available

  18. Late Work • Work is considered late if not submitted at the day that it is due (don’t make it a habit!!!) • More then one day late = Process - 50% of original gradeProduct – Drop one letter grade/dayBoth only available for limited time.

  20. Where Am I From? • Grew up in New Jersey (Millville, NJ) • Received undergraduate and graduate degree from West Chester University • Lived in Salt Lake City, UT, for one year

  21. PROUD member of the MHS (Millville High School) Marching Band as a ninth grader . . . Ya gotta love “Q-tip” hat! (note: this is the ONLY picture I could find! Do you think I would show it to you otherwise?)

  22. What Do I Do at MHS? • Currently my twelfth year of teaching with nine years here at MHS • Teach mostly 9th grade classes of Social Studies – various levels • Have taught 12th grade African American History and 11th Grade Social Studies

  23. I Love To Travel! • Spent one summer touring the USA • Traveled to 47 states – only have Alaska, North Dakota, and Oregon left to visit • Traveled to Europe, Caribbean, and Mexico

  24. Important People To Me! • Mr. Parker is the Principal at Meredith Middle School.

  25. Courtney Soon to be 9 years old, loves to dance, sing, read and play on the computer! She just started 3rd grade!
