  6. Course Overview • This is an ELECTIVE course: • This course covers topics commonly referred to as Lean Six Sigma. • This course meets the Six Sigma Philosophy requirement for the Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate. ENGM 720: Statistical Process Control

Learning Objectives • Students will demonstrate: • The ability to apply the operational strategies of operational excellence, such as lean manufacturing and six sigma, in a variety of industry situations. • The ability to utilize appropriate lean and six sigma metrics to improve a system or process in a DMAIC cycle. Required Materials • Engineering Notebook • 9-3/4" x 7-1/2", 5x5 quad-ruled, 80-100 pp. (approx.). • Engineering Problems Paper • 8-1/2" x 11", three hole drilled, ruled five squares/division, 50 pp. (approx.). • Mechanical Pencil • 0.5 mm, HB or B lead with comfortable grip • Plastic-based Eraser • clickable pen-style suggested ENGM 720: Statistical Process Control

Expectations • Assignments: • Assignments will be electronically turned in at Lab Time • Solutions will be posted on-line (sometime later) • Exams: • Exams are open Engineering notebook; and closed textbook and homework. • Most necessary tables and diagrams will be provided – these should be placed in your Engineering Notebook.   15. Expectations • Make-up Work (Assignments): • Make-Up work is the student’s responsibility, and is arranged at the lecturer’s discretion. Policies: • Foreseeable Circumstances - contact the lecturer as far in advance as possible (e-mail). • Unforeseeable Circumstances - contact the lecturer as soon as practical (leave phone message). • If an assignment is less than 24 hours late, it will be held until the end of the term. If the student’s grade is borderline (within 1.5% of the next highest grade without considering the late assignment, then the held assignment will be graded and assessed 50% of the earned credit. There is no credit for unapproved late assignments after 24 hours have passed. ENGM 720: Statistical Process Control
