? Big Question • The Big Question is what brand of soap works best to remove oil from an animal’s fur.
Explanation • I chose to do this after I saw a Dawn commercial and thought if that was the only brand that people used to clean animals.
Hypothesis • Since that Dawn claims in there commercials that they clean animals in oil spills and I haven’t seen other brands claim that they also clean animals. So I predict that Dawn cleans better.
Interesting Facts • There is about 706 million oil spills in a year • Offshore oil spills is at least 8% of oil spills • The largest oil spill was in the Persian Gulf in 1991 spilling over 240 million gallons of oil • Oil can help cause erosion • Oil spills can kill many types of animals like ducks, beavers, seals, and many types of fish
Materials You will Need • Water • Motor oil • Fake or real fur • 3 types of soap • Sink/bucket • Timer • Tablespoon
Step by Step • Fill the sink/bucket with water put a tablespoon of soap • Put a tablespoon of oil on the fur • Set the timer for three minutes • Put the fur in the sink and start the timer • Repeat with the rest of the soap • Then use it with just water • Let dry and make a conclusion
