  2. Antecedentes • El Día Mundial de lucha contra el SIDA es el único día internacional de acción coordinada contra la propagación del SIDA. Se realiza anualmente el 1 de Diciembre, con el propósito de fortalecer el esfuerzo mundial para hacer frente a los desafíos que presenta la Pandemia del SIDA, que continúa propagándose en todas la regiones del mundo. • El primer Día Mundial del SIDA, se celebró en 1988, fue propuesto por la Organización Mundial de la Salud, en la Cumbre Mundial de Ministros de la Salud sobre Programas de Prevención del SIDA, que se celebró en Londres en enero de ese año, se centraron las actividades en la Lucha Mundial contra el SIDA, impulsando a gobiernos, comunidades, otros sectores de la sociedad y personas a hablar sobre SIDA.

Metas del día mundial • APOYO INTERSECTORIAL CON ACTIVIDADES QUE REFUERCEN EL PROGRAMA NACIONAL. • RECONOCER QUE LA INFORMACION, EDUCACION Y COMUNICACION ES UN ARMA EFICAZ PARA LA PREVENCION. • ORIENTAR Y SENSIBILIZAR A DECISORES COMUNITARIOS, PADRES, MAESTROS, ARTISTAS, PERSONAL DE SALUD, PARA QUE SE SUMEN DE MANERA SISTEMATICA A LA PROMOCION Y LA PREVENCION.
