Motivation • Interoperability problems of Communication and Information • systems for public safety at national and international levels • - Relatively small market • Expensive technologies. Governmental funding. • Diversity of approaches in building public safety • communication systems • Absence of internationally harmonized public safety user • requirements • Multidimensional issues. Lack of dialog between different • stakeholders: users, industry, operators, authorities, regulators
Objectives • Consolidate and publish user requirements into high • level European Functional Specification • Identify gaps in the current ICT offering , produce • and promote Road Map for future technological • development • Advise and influence policy makers, regulators and • standard making bodies and improve interoperability • Maintain European leadership in specification and • provision of public safety civil protection • communications and information management • systems
Approach • The Forum will establish European discussion • platform on future public safety communications • The Forum will also function as a consultation • process between different Groups of stockholders • The Forum structured as a process which • culminates in conferences and workshops • Twelve WG and associated electronic discussion @ forums has been established • Forum will contribute to the preparation of • communication to the Council and Parliament • Memorandum of understanding (MoU)
PSCE Forum status • More than 300 participants have registered to the Forum • The first Forum Conference took place in Luxembourg in • May 2007. More than 100 participants attended the event. • 12 Working Groups were established.
