  3. SSR Tuesday - Friday Within each department… • Our vision is that ½ of the classes be SSR rooms What it looks like • The room is silent • Teacher models behavior • All school non-negotiables are upheld negotiate

  4. Formal Intervention (Strands)Mandatory—Ticket Required Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday • Strands: Mandatory, assessment/data driven, skill specific and teacher directed. (5%) The details: • Strand plans the assessment/areas of need (please consider the intervention calendar) • strand leader emails Julianne the date(s) of intervention, schedules 3rd period prep coverage • Teachers email Julianne their list of students in need of intervention • Julianne places tickets in teacher’s box • Strand members write and issue their tickets • Return yellow and pink copies to intervention teacher • Intervention is taught • Students return to third period with Pink pass • Names of students not in attendance submitted to Julianne for discipline What it looks like • Teacher directed instruction • Small class sizes • Only intervention students present • All school non-negotables are upheld

Formal Intervention (Teachers)Mandatory-Ticket Required Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday • Teachers: Mandatory, assessment/data driven, skill specific, teacher directed, but not something that appears to be a strand wide struggle. The details: • Strand formal intervention trumps teacher formal interventions • Julianne will issue 10 tickets to every staff member • Teachers assign students, emails Julianne with date(s) of intervention and the list of students required to attend • Julianne will issue replacement tickets based on that list • Teacher books a third period class coverage • Names of students not in attendance submitted to Julianne for discipline What it looks like • Teacher directed instruction • Small class sizes • Only intervention students present • All school non-negotiables are upheld

Informal InterventionVoluntary Tuesday - Friday • Group Study Within each department… • Select a few teachers who will be “group study” rooms where students can work collaboratively with one another and without teacher’s support • These teachers must be vigilant that students are working on something meaningful • Teacher will provide an informal intervention sign in sheet and return that to Julianne once filled. • This room remains the same for at least one semester, so students in surrounding classrooms know where they can be What it looks like • Teacher is walking the room, not sitting with a single group • Students may be working quietly together, but all work is meaningful and academic • There are no more than 40 students present • School wide non-negotiables are upheld

  7. Informal Intervention Tuesday - Friday 2. Teacher directed Tutorial • Teacher will be working with volunteer students on a student or teacher selected topic. The details • check the intervention calendar before scheduling with students • have third period coverage • Content What it looks like • Teacher is working with a small group of students on academic content • Third period class is not present • All school non-negotiables are upheld

SOS Tuesday – Friday • Department run (optional) • One teacher runs the SOS room. • Department members sign students up for SOS • Teacher takes and submits attendance • No more than 40 students What it looks like • Room is silent • Teacher is up and monitoring the room • Students are working on teacher assigned work • All school non-negotiables are upheld

  9. Fridays… • We have left Fridays to the side for the various academic enrichments that occur on campus. These include, but are not limited to… • Academic decathlon • Speech and Debate • Mock Trial • WSB, LINK • Counseling
