Purpose • I play paintball just about every weekend with my friend John. He always wins and I believe that it is because he has a better paintball gun. I want to even things up and was wondering if the angle of projection matters.
Question • Which angle of projection (75, 60, 45) will send the potato the farthest?
Hypothesis • I believe that the ___ angle will send the potato the farthest because….
Materials • Potato gun • Tape ball • Air compressor • Plunger • Meter stick
Procedure • Put tape ball in potato gun and stuff with the plunger • Close the launch valve and fill the potato gun with air (40 psi) • Assemble the gun • Aim the potato gun at the desired angle (45, 60, or 75) and turn valve to launch • Measure the flight distance of the tape ball in meters
Data and results • Table • Graph • Explain the graph (AKA – statements) 45 degrees – (3rd place) 175 meters 60 degrees – (2nd place) 200 meters 75 degrees – (1st place) 225 meters
Variables • Independent – angle of launch • Dependent – the change will be measured in the distance (meters) that the tape ball traveled in the air
Conclusion • fjekej
