Why Was the ACLSA Needed? • In the early 1990s, Casey discovered the need for an instrument that: • Includes youth and caregivers; • Is strengths-focused; • Is developmentally appropriate; • Is culturally sensitive and gender appropriate; and • Is useful for setting case goals.
