  2. RPES training objective: • To increase the institutional capacity of National Statistical Offices and Training Institutions to offer foundational training to staff who are involved in economic statistics production and dissemination in their national statistical system

  3. Session objective • What are common training priorities for producing the Core Set of Economic Statistics? • Which training opportunities currently exist at the national level? • What kind of regional support would be beneficial to improve these opportunities? • How could your country benefit? Criteria for engagement and types of support

  4. What will the project do? • Create a training curriculum and selected training materials for the basic skills of the Core Set • Create resources for trainers • Provide guidance on setting up or improving training at the national level

  5. Curriculum and training material • Review existing resources, identify priority areas • Prepare recommended/generic curriculum • Generate training materials for selected modules of the curriculum • Expert consultation and review

  6. Training of Trainers material • Identify resources and priority areas • Develop ToT material • Expert consultation and review • Conduct ToT

  7. Deployment of the curriculum • Identify NSSs and a cadre of (national) trainers • Creation of guidelines and resource materials for deployment of the curriculum • Provision of technical assistance to institute and tailor the generic curriculum to national context

  8. Project parameters • 2018-2019 (2 years) • Project team (SIAP, SD) • Consultation group (SGRPES and the Network) • Country Selection • Institutional commitment • Absorptive Capacity • Number of staff eligible for trianing

Present the 3 most important obstacles identified • What kind of training materials are lacking? Present 3 priority topics where new or better training materials are needed. How do these topics relate to the Core Set? • What types of other training resources are needed to enable your NSO to deliver basic economic statistics training to the NSS? Present the resources identified
