Muscular Strength & Endurance • Strength • The ability of the muscles to exert a force 1 time • i.e. Power lifting, planks • Endurance • The ability to use the muscles for long periods of time • i.e. wall sits, curl ups, push ups, lifting repetitions of sub max weights
Cardio-Respiratory Endurance • The ability of the heart, blood & respiratory system to supply fuel and oxygen to muscles during exercise • i.e. biking, walking, jumping rope • P.A.C.E.R. test
Flexibility • The range of movement possible at various joints • i.e., stretches, yoga, ballet/dance • Sit & Reach Test
6 SKILL RELATED FITNESS COMPONENTS • Agility – how quickly you can change positions and maintain control • Balance – ability to keep an upright posture while either still or moving • Coordination- integration of eye, hand, and foot movements • Power- ability to perform something with strength and speed • Reaction time- the time it takes to move once your senses signal the need to move • Speed- ability to cover a distance in a short time period
MHR • Maximum Heart Rate • 220 – your age = your MHR
THRZ • Target Heart Rate Zone • 60 – 80% of your Maximum Heart Rate • Lower Range of THRZ = MHR * 60% • Upper Range of THRZ = MHR * 80%
