  1. Your immune system By Warren Williams

  2. Your immune system is basically your bodies defenses against foreign pathogens and threats. It is composed of three main lines of defense. You skin Phagocytes (Macrophages) Lymphocytes Each of these defense mechanisms help protect us against bacterial, viral, and other threats against our immune system note: Our body has other defense mechanism besides these, sneezing, scratching, and crying are all ways that our expels threats.

  3. The skin The skin is the first line of defense against pathogens and other foreign objects coming into the body. The mucus, salvia, wax, and other bodily fluids that are found in peoples ears, noses, eyes, and mouth are all other ways that our bodies defend against invasions. Our skin actually has oils and other materials on the skins surface that kills bacteria. The skin is also made to especially protect us. It has special properties that help us stay safe from pathogens. Overall the skin is our outer armor that protects us from just about any threat. If any threats get past the skin don’t worry though, because our bodies have other defenses to help protect us. note: The skin is the first line of defense because it is on the outer most part of our body. The nose, eyes, ears, mouth, and other orifices are also the first line because they are the entry areas for objects or organisms to enter the body.

  4. Phagocytes Macrophages Macrophages are relatively large antibodies that kill invasive cells that make it into the body. They kill their prey via a few different means. They secrete chemicals that break down the cells that they are trying to kill, and they also eat the cells. When a macrophage “eats” a cell it actually send out these tentacle looking arms called pseudopodia that grab bad cells and pull them into the macrophage. The macrophage then proceeds to completely engulf the bad cell. These cells travel through the lymphatic system. If any threats are not attacked by the macrophages other defense mechanisms will protect us too. note: Macrophages are one of the most important part of our immune system. These are a form of white blood cells too.

  5. Lymphocytes Lymphocytes are the third line of defense against threats. These are what most people think of as being the stereotypical white blood cell. There are thousands of different types of lymphocyte cells. Each one has different defense mechanisms that target different incoming threats. Whenever a threat comes into our body our body starts creating new white blood cells to specifically attack that cell. This ability allows us to better fight threats. Whenever we get a flu shot or a vaccination the doctors shoot a weakened or dead version of the virus that allows our body to get and idea of how to better attack them and fight them off. note: This skill especially helps us fight against threats that would usually hurt us.

  6. All of these different parts of the immune system help us be prepared for just about any biological threat. There are some threats that we can’t stop, nerve agents, chemicals gas, and allergic recreations are all things that our immune system can do almost nothing to stop. Allergies are actually caused by our immune system. Allergies is when our body thinks that it is fighting off a pathogen, or threat. Our body attacks things like pollen and particles in dust because the objects that it is attacking look like viruses and actual threats. The images below are of pollen and a bacteria. They look almost the same. From seeing this it should be easy to see why our bodies sometimes get confused. note: the scientific explanation is very complicated on how our bodies find and attack pollen so I will not explain that the basic information i above though.

  7. Conclusion Overall our bodies are very diverse and have great defense mechanisms that allow us to better survive and have optimal fitness within our environment. Our immunes systems are always better adapting to the environment that we live in to better or immune response. Doctors and medical scientist are also trying to find better ways to fight diseases and help the overall global health rate. note: I ran out of infomation to talk about....

Just because I'm putting them on each slide doesn't mean that I'm talking about anything interesting or meaningful though.
