  2. Introduction • Kenosis – the emptying • What was the problem? (selfishness and conceit) • Solution – look at the example of Jesus

  3. One Interpretation • Jesus emptied himself of almost all of his divinity • This made him humble • He served others before himself • We are to do the same

  4. A different interpretation • Kenoso means “to not have a reputation” • Reputation is a negative thing, like criticism • People sought out Jesus for many reasons • He was known for his kindness, generosity, and words of comfort
