  2. Introducton • Now Jesus offers a woe about the Temple and city of Jerusalem • What did the Temple’s destruction mean?

  3. History of Jerusalem • Established in 3500 BCE • 1000 BCE David conquered her • 586 BCE Babylonians take her • 332 BCE Alexander the Great conquers the city • 37 BCE Herod adds to the Temple and city • 70 CE Romans destroy the Temple and city

  4. History continued • 632 CE Muhammad ascends to Heaven from Jerusalem • 1187 CE Crusaders take the city • 1516 CE Ottoman Empire takes the city • 1918 CE Great Britain takes the city • 1967 CE Israel takes the city

  5. For Us Today • Shekinah (Holy Spirit) resided in the Temple • Pentecost – Jesus releases the Holy Spirit to reside in us • Repentance is done through praise and action freeing us from sin • We are connected to Jesus by the Holy Spirit in us • Live by Jesus words to remain sanctified
