AP* Retreat Meeting AP* is an open organization … Coordinating Asia Pacific networking organizations AP* Retreat … Open meeting attended by representatives from AP orgs Twice-a-year meeting: with APRICOT in winter and with APAN in summer Update the last 6 month's activities of various AP orgs.

AP* Organizations & Meeting Reports (2) • Review & update: “A Brief Internet History in Asia” • http://www.apstar.org/internetHistoryAP.html • History data should be up-to-date and corrected upon request by the respective org. • APNG Camp building the Internet History Museum and cooperating in archiving the Internet History. • Re-visitation of AP* website: • To include AP orgs. in all disciplines as much as possible. • AP* Outreach: • To address policy issues, social sciences, cultural, arts etc. Regional reports from regional orgs are invited to future AP* meetings.
Action Items (1) • Digital Archive • Web Archiving • Internet Archive (archive.org) • started in 1996 • 1 petabytes in 2006 with 20 terabyte per month • How about Digital Archive in Asia? A hands-on workshop on Digital Archiving may be conducted during APRICOT 2007 or AP* Retreat if sufficient EOI is received from interested orgs.
Action Items (2) ITU TELECOM WORLD 2006 “THE GLOBAL NETWORKING PLATFORM” Date: 4-8 December 2006 in Hong Kong, China Venue: AsiaWorld-Expo URL:http://www.itu.int/WORLD2006/ AP* will present some kinds of existence (posters, brochures etc.) for promotion.
Action Items (3) • Internet Governance • Changing situation around ICANN • WSIS pressure – more international, multi-stakeholder • GAC Task Force for “enhanced cooperation” • Need further reform? – YES. • ALAC website: www.icannalac.org • APRALO: • defining Operating Principles • To enter MoU with ICANN soon? • Next Meeting at APNIC in September • EURALO • May 2006: Frankfurt Meeting: “The Spirit of Frankfurt” • First EURALO preparatory meeting • Drafting a RALO roadmap, with milestones for the bylaws and the MoU into 2007.
AP* Retreat - Future Meeting Next meeting will be held in Bali, Indonesia in conjunction with APRICOT 2007 from February 21st – March 2nd 2007. Co-chairs: Hiro Hotta, JPRS & one representative from APIA’s suggestion • Call for presentations send out through AP* mailing list • Re-vitalize AP* Retreat • Face-to-Face discussions • Inviting to all AP orgs to attend AP* Retreat & APRICOT 2007 Open to fresh ideas & discussion topics!!!
