17. What is Bullying? Bullying is intentional aggressive behavior. It can take the form of physical or verbal harassment and involves an imbalance of power

19. Bullying... • Leads to children being upset, afraid, ashamed, embarrassed, and anxious about going to school. • Affects children of any age, including younger elementary grade-schoolers and even kindergarteners. • Bullying behavior is frequently repeated unless there is intervention.

21. What should your child do? • Step 1: Say STOP • Step 2: Keep REPORTING it until it STOPS. Say it, write it- REPORT it. • Once reported, ACTION will be taken by the school

H.E.R.O’s ProgramHelp Everyone Respect Others • Who? – 8 to 10 scholars, in grades 3-5 chosen by applications process. • What? – An after school club for scholars to learn ideas/ways to help our school eliminate bullying. • When? – Every other Wednesday for an hour. • Where? - Library • Why? - Our mission is to create a comprehensive program with interactive lessons that give our scholar’s role-play opportunities where they can practice skills on how to successfully respond to negative, aggressive behaviors from others.
