Area of interest Development of new advanced ultrasonic measurement techniques and instrumentation for non-conventional applications, including: • Investigation stage; • Development of measurement techniques; • Development of pilot version of instrumentation; • Development of industrial version of instrumentation for in situ measurements.

  3. Developments includes • Measurement techniques; • Ultrasonic transducers; • Electronic units for signal generation and reception; • Scanners for transducer positioning; • Software for control of measurement process, data acquisition and analysis .

  4. Experience • Over 40 years in the field of ultrasonic measurements and non-destructive testing; • Over 100 techniques and instruments developed for various industrial and scientific applications; • Over 150 patents; • Over 1000 publications in internationally recognised scientific journals; • Publishing the scientific journal “Ultragarsas (Ultrasound)” since 1969; • Master and post-graduate studies.

  5. Manpower • 12 full time staff members (including 8 PhD); • 5 part time staff members; • 5 persons posses Level III in ultrasonic testing according to EN473 Nordtest.

Facilities • Ultrasonic 8 channel NDT systems Sumiad (Spain); • Ultrasonic imaging systems UltraLab and Izograf (Lithuania); • Ultrasonic signal and image processing systems Masera (Spain) and Civa (France); • Precise XY and XYZU scanning systems for immersion and air-coupled measurements; • Software for simulation of ultrasonic fields and measurement processes.

The newest projects • EC FRAMEWORK 6 projects: • “Condition monitoring of large oil and chemical storage tanks using ultrasonic guided wave tomography without the need to empty and clean the tanks (TANK INSPECT)”; • “Development of comprehensive in-line quality control system for printed circuit board assemblies (MICROSCAN)” • "Micro and Nanotechnologies going to EASTern Europe through NETworking (MINAEAST-NET)”; • EC FRAMEWORK 5 project: • “Development of new and novel inspection systems for composite aircraft non-destructive testing (NANOSCAN)” • Development contract with Endress+Hauser FlowtecAG (Switzerland) on Research on Ultrasonic Flowmeter Issues. • Co-operative project with Belgian Nuclear Research Center: • “Development of visualization system for use on accelerator driven system MYRRHA”

  17. Co-operative project with Belgian Nuclear Research Center Development of visualization system for use on accelerator driven system MYRRHA

  18. MYRRHA nuclear reactor Ultrasonic Imaging System for MYRRHA Joint project with the Belgium Nuclear Research Centre (SCK/CEN) in order to develop an ultrasonic system for imaging of interior of the nuclear reactor MYRRHA: • The core of the nuclear reactor is cooled by means of liquid metal Pb/Bi alloy; • The ultrasonic imaging will be based on the transducers submersed in the liquid lead – bismuth alloy in the reactor at temperature 160-400°C.
