NEW JERSEY 2009 OUTLOOK
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • Dosimetric Reporting Information System (DoRIS) • Developed by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS).
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • DoRIS is a web based computer system the NJDHSS will employ during a radiological emergency to track radiation exposures to emergency workers.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • The NJDHSS will monitor radiation exposures to emergency workers. • The Commissioner of NJDHSS can approve incremental increases in exposure doses up to 5 R.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • Dosimetry results are recorded by supervisors in the “Field” for each emergency worker. • Readings are added into the DoRIS data base.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • As doses for emergency workers are entered, DoRIS keeps track of each workers exposure level. • The NJDHSS established set points corresponding to the NJ administrative limit of 1.25 R.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • As the dose increases the worker will turn “Yellow” when their exposure reaches 625 m/R or 50% of the 1.25 R exposure limit. • When a worker reaches 938 m/R or 75% of the 1.25 R exposure limit they will turn “Red”.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • At established limits warnings are e-mailed to the State OEM, County OEM’s, and municipal OEM’s. • E-mails inform agencies their emergency workers are approaching their administrative limits.
NJ 2009 OUTLOOK • Agencies can then adjust or change worker schedules and work locations to limit further exposures. • Readings are stored in the DoRIS data base and carry over from shift to shift. • These data are stored for seventy years.
