  3. 2 COOMET activity is based on the following documents: • Memorandum of Understanding; • CONCEPTION of Cooperation; • COOMET Development Program for 2008 – 2010; • COOMET Working Program AREAS of COOPERATION: MEASUREMENT STANDARDS OF PHYSICAL UNITS; LEGAL METROLOGY; ACCREDITATION AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS; INFORMATION AND TRAINING

  4. 3 Major fields of COOMET cooperation in the area of legal metrology • Development of harmonized recommendations on implementation of MID; • Studying of international experience in realization of the OIML Agreement on mutual recognition of results of type approval of measuring instruments (OIML V10-1) and its further adoption by NMIs of COOMET member countries; • Harmonization of national legislation as regards legal metrology with international requirements (OIML D 1, etc.); • Consultations on implementation of requirements of OIML documents; • Exchange of experience and consultations of COOMET member countries for the purpose of developing such fields of legal metrology as prepackages control, testing of gambling machines, and testing of software for measuring instruments.

  7. 6 COOMET EVENTS • During the period of 2007-2008 meetings of all structural bodies were held, including: • 12th Meeting of COOMET President’s Council • (4–5 December, 2007, Yaremcha, Ukraine); • 8th Meeting ofТC 2 “Legal Metrology” • (2–3 October, 2007, Lvov, Ukraine); • 18th COOMET Committee Meeting • (15–16 May, 2008, Kharkov, Ukraine); • 6th Meeting of the Joint Committee for Measurement Standards • (14 May, 2008, Kharkov, Ukraine); • 9th Meeting ofТC 2 “Legal Metrology” • (16–17 September, 2008, Minsk, Belarus).

  8. 7 CONFERENCES AND WORKSHOPS • Workshop on the questions of further cooperation within COOMET (26–27 November, 2007, Braunshweig, Germany). • Workshop on Regional Cooperation within COOMET SC 4.5 “Support in developing the basic metrological infrastructure of COOMET Member Countries” (17–19 June, 2008, Kharkov, Ukraine); • VI International Scientific and Technical Conference “Metrology and Measurement Techniques” (Metrology 2008) (14–16 October, 2008, Kharkov, Ukraine). • Future: • Workshop within COOMET SC 2.5 “Control of prepackages” (25–26 November, 2008, Vilnius, Lithuania) • Workshop on Enhancing Participation in the CIPM MRA within COOMET SC 4.5 “Support in developing the basic metrological infrastructure of COOMET Member Countries” (1–4 December, 2008, Astana, Kazakhstan).
