TAS Study Overview • Study Status & Plan for Completion • Incremental Resources - Approval Item • 2008 Schedule • Work Group Report
I. Study Status & Plan for Completion Process Study Plan • Jan 18 – Apr 17: Wrote Draft Study Plan • May 1: TAS Approval • May 18: TEPPC Approval Study Conclusion • Nov 27: Progress Overview • Nov 30: Final definition of the hypothetical resource portfolios for the Transmission Expansion Cases • Dec 31: Completion of the Transmission Expansion Cases • Jan 31: Completion of the Annual Report (caveat) Study Update • Apr 2008: Update Study Plan (living document) as required
II. Incremental Resources • Generation – Tom Carr - Approval Item • Sub Work Group • Held 6 meetings • Up to 16 participants per call • Development Steps • Developed methodology to identify mix of incremental generation resources 2008-2017. Researched and identified RPS legal requirements from 9 states with RPS (AZ, CA, CO, MT, NV, NM, OR, TX, WA) • Constructed spreadsheet that derives RPS generation energy (MWh) for 2017 • Process • Started with existing Load & Resource data • Used IRP data to identify future generation • Cross referenced with resources in TEPPC data base • Identified renewable RPS • Identified different generation types • Verified name plate capacity • Perform gap analysis • Other incremental resources • Transmission Update– Donald Davies • Stakeholder findings of TECC data base
III. 2008 Study • From 2007 Study Results • Investigate cases for transmission needs from incremental resources • Learn from first case studies, document and take forward • Develop timeline for report to meet Order 890 requirements • Revise Incremental Resources • Move forward with Class 1 & 2 generation • Add Western climate GHG • Check state statues • Transmission • Determine how competing alternatives will be handled • Revise Nomograms based upon project additions • Develop operating limit guidelines
