  1. AlbaNova University Center welcomes 2nd Scandinavian NeutrinO Workshop Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  2. A common center for Stockholm University (SU)and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) AlbaNova University Center 5 years old 2006 Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  3. AlbaNova University Center Architect Henning Larsen, Denmark Known as ”Master of the light” with a special talent to understand and control the light Honorary Doctor at KTH, 2001 for excellent ability to combine functional and aestetical design Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  4. AlbaNova University Center Research areas Physics Astronomy Biotechnology 2007 (Formal decisions in May 2006) NORDITA will be located in one of the houses in front of the main entrance People Today there are about 750 persons working at AlbaNova. More than 30% of them are graduate students. It is estimated that during a year about 4000 undergraduates are participating in educational activities at AlbaNova. Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  5. A major motivation to create the center: Promote co-operation between scientists and research groups from KTH and SU A very good example: HEAC – The AlbaNova High Energy Astrophysics and Cosmology Centre The groups participating in HEAC are: The supernova group at the Astronomy Department, Stockholm University The high energy astrophysics group at the Astronomy Department, Stockholm University The group of observational cosmology at the Astronomy Department, Stockholm University The Cosmology, Particle astrophysics and String theory (CoPS) group, Department of Physics, Stockholm University The astroparticle physics group in the Particle and Astroparticle Physics group, Royal Institute of Technology Part of the Mathematical Physics group, Royal Institute of Technology Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  6. Oskar Klein 1884 – 1977Professor in theoretical physics in Stockholm 1931 -1962 Most prominent Swedish theoretical physicist in the 20th century. Oscar Klein Auditorium Klein assisted Niels Bohr and worked closely together with him in the years when the foundation for quantum mechanichs was worked out. Among Klein’s important work: The Klein-Gordon Equation He found similarities between Einstein’s theory of gravitation and Maxwell’s theory of electromagnetism, applying 5 dimensions instead of 4. The Kaluza-Klein theory could be seen as one of the foundations of today’s string theory. Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006

  7. AlbaNova University Center wishes Good Luck! Ö. Skeppstedt SNOW 2006
