Nursing Services – Related Service • Check your case load names with the nurse • Students with IEPs and who have IHPs • Add Nursing Services as a related service by calling a meeting or doing an amendment to the IEP • Attach a copy of the IHP to the IEP packet (IHP MUST be in the ESE file)
COSF • EXCENT Data Entry requirement for Preschool and Elementary Teachers every 9 weeks! • ALL children under the age of 6
Expectations of Case Managers • Provide IEP info to all teachers and others who “need to know” • Annual reviews due on student birthdates • Document at least 2 attempts to invite parents to participate • Call special reviews • Bring a draft copy of the IEP to every IEP meeting.*
Expectations of Case Managers • Update present levels for each IEP meeting • Include functional assessment in the present levels • A new IEP is required at each re-evaluation • Complete an ACTION Form for all IEP meetings and actions
Expectations of Case Managers • Complete a Prior Written Notice (PWN) for all meetings, actions, and parent requests • Turn all IEP packets into the ESE office within 5 school days of the meeting or action • Don’t miss Re-eval dates

Intervention (our elementary process follow school process of RTI) • Problem-Solving Process (our secondary process follows SIT process requiring at least 3 meetings) • Our elementary and secondary processes ARE DIFFERENT – follow the Referral Procedures • Data is required!
Secondary Referral • Teacher/team completes the packet to INITIATE problem-solving process • 6-page packet • At least 3 meetings are required • Intervention data must be taken • ERCC Meeting required before referral is turned into ESE Office • School psych • Special Education teacher • Procedures for parent requests
Elementary Referral • Teacher/RTI team completes the packet at the END of the school’s RTI process • 2-page cover for school RTI process and data • ERCC Meeting is required before referral is turned into the ESE Office • School Psych OR S/L Therapist • Special Education teacher • Procedures for parent requested
Parent Requests • School describes and asks cooperation in the child taking part in the school’s intervention process • Can’t hold up a parent request to do an evaluation if they don’t agree to the interventions • In almost all cases, interventions will have to be implemented WHILE the evaluation is being done
Chapter 9 – Private School/Home School Service Plans (not IEPs) • Parentally placed students who qualify have the opportunity to participate, but have no individual right to SpEd or Related Services. • RHSD3 is required to use a proportionate share of our federal funding to provide services. • between 1 and 2 hours per week per child • Served with Service Plans NOT IEPs
What Teachers Need to Know about Service Plans • RHSD3 procedures (Private School/Home School Students) and Service Plan (green) • Student should be entered in EXCENT, but Service Plan is not in EXCENT. • Charter Schools ARE NOT private schools • CAH is our responsibility (IEPs) • YPA and Virtual Charter School is the responsibility of the SC Charter School District
