Community Community Interventions & ResourcesCommunity based projects -Warm Your Heart By Warming a Child- fundraising for winter clothing mittens and hats for Prince of Wales School in Hamilton -Grace Haven- Fundraising for items, (mostly toiletries), to be placed in Christmas stockings for the mothers at this agency -St. Monica's House -fundraising/collecting baby supplies and providing a list of resources, to be given to the mothers prior to the birth of their babies re:strangers. .
Community • Community based projects (continued)-Volunteer Recruitment - students set up resource/information booths in the malls and in local high schools to inform the community/high school students of the agencies looking for volunteers • -Safety Awareness Program- developed and • implemented by the students at the local Kiwanis • Boys and Girls Club. Topics included drug awareness, dangers in the park/playground, • personal safety re:strangers. • .

Our Community… CYW website Adolescence, Interviewing and Counselling, Principles of Treatment, Cognitive & Behaviour Modification, Human Sexuality, Assessment and Treatment Strategies, Attending Skills, Introduction to CYC FirstClassAll courses and now services courses using FRED. Online attendance, discussion forums, group work.
Challenges • Double cohort, younger students • Change Year 1 placement experience from 4 days to 3 days each week and located in school based settings which is more structured and closely supervised by College.(pilot fall 2003) • Classroom behaviour
