Technology Vision for the • 2014-2015 School Year It is the technology vision of Springville High School to collaboratively implement unique technological strategies of engagement needed to enhance student learning and increase information literacy in the classroom, so that our students are college and career ready.
GOALS • Incorporate and implement the use of technology as an effective means of teaching. • Increase student knowledge through various uses of technology. • Improve productivity in the classroom and enhance the learning process. • Incorporate Project Based Learning (PBL) to allow students to demonstrate the effective use of technology.
NEEDS ASSESSMENT • The school technology coordinator (STC) conducted a technology needs assessment. The assessment was conducted upon returning to school from summer break August 2014 • Student Surveys • Teacher Surveys • Teacher Interviews • The results from these surveys and interviews concluded that we have the devices but a lack of efficiency of use and applicable technology software.
OBJECTIVE 1 • Monthly job imbedded professional development sessions will be required to fully integrate technology use in the classroom. Sessions will be led by the STC.
OBJECTIVE 2 • Teachers will restructure the current curriculum to incorporate effective uses of technology and immerse these uses in everyday teaching practices. • Teachers will utilize technology in a variety of ways and through multiple mediums to promote 21st century skills.
OBJECTIVE 3 • The school technology coordinator (STC) and principal instructional leader will guide teachers through the entire process of fully integrating technology in the classroom. • Teachers will be held accountable through principal evaluations. • The STC will be responsible for maintaining and inventorying technology devices.
EVALUATION • Technology usage forms to document all use of technology used in the classroom • Video footage and photos of student and teacher use of technology in the classroom • Student/Teacher surveys detailing what worked and what did not will be conducted at the end of the school year • Principal Observation Evaluations • The Comparison of the Previous Year’s Test Scores to the Current Year’s Test Scores
TIMELINE • Professional Development will begin August 2014 and will be coordinated and/or led by the STC. • Immediate classroom implementation expected. • Professional development will be ongoing monthly. • By May 2015, SHS should be a fully technology integrated school with flipped classrooms.
Student Work Sample • Library Book Trailer • Students were assigned a library book to read. The assignment was to make a “movie” book trailer to entice someone to read it. Macbook Airs and iMovie were tools used for this particular one.
