3. Purpose of Rubrics Measure the skills or abilities students will have when they complete a course or program
Lead to good evidence of student learning
Provide multiple approaches to evaluation
Provide information for faculty to adjust the contents or approach to a course or program
4. Rubrics Defined ... delineate what knowledge, content, skills, and behaviors are indicative of various levels of learning or mastery
(Middle States, 2007)
5. Rubrics Defined The teacher:
identifies the factors or traits that will count for the scoring
builds a scale for scoring the students performance on that trait
evaluates the students performance against those criteria (Woolvard and Anderson, 1998)
