Reminders: • Are you a Career Pathway Completer? • Visit with STC Coordinator: Mrs. Kohn • Pass 3 credits in your pathway with 1 of the credits being the application course or earn an industry recognized certification (ex. CNA). • Request in writing (deb.kohn@usd305.com) that Mrs. Kohn verify your completion of a pathway: Deadline March 6, 2020 • Kansas Scholar Curriculum Completers (April/Early May for scholarship application) • NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Center

  5. WORKFORCE • Myths • If you don't go to college immediately after high school you'll never go. • Without a college education you'll never earn enough money to live a comfortable life. • Advantages • Save Money • Gain Work Experience

  6. WORKFORCE – cont. • You can use Career Cruising to narrow career choices • Explore job options. Find out what types of jobs are available to high school graduates who have little or no further training. • Network. Ask friends, family, and neighbors if they have any connections. The majority of jobs are not advertised. • Write a resume. Be sure to stress education, part-time and summer jobs, clubs, and awards.

  7. Military Service • Great way to learn more about yourself. Serve your country. • Explore a career in the service, and/or earn money toward a future college education. • Earn valuable work experience that you can apply to civilian jobs once discharged.

  8. TECHNICAL TRAINING/SCHOOL • Admission Processes Vary • Be sure to visit the campus • Schools in dedicated fields • Health Care • Culinary Arts • Automotive Technology • Arts • Welding

COLLEGES / UNIVERSITIES • College Visits – contact the Admissions office either online or by phone • Make arrangements to attend an information session, take a campus tour, schedule an interview, visit classes and meet with faculty • If possible visit when that school is in session • Types of visit opportunities: • Large open house visit programs • Individual visits • Overnight visits

Post-High School Planning • Do you have a high school transcript release on file in the Counseling Center?Mrs. Froome can also provide unofficial and official transcripts with GPA and class ranking. • Do you have a plan to pay for post-high school education? Have you discussed this plan with your parents? • All male students must register with selective service when you reach the age of 18. To register, go to www.sss.gov
