  1. Data Overview for C.A. Gray Junior High School Presented to C. A. Gray Faculty on August 1, 2014 by KristynNelms & Melanie Turner

  2. Purpose • The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of CRCT data across the last three years. • This will include targeting strengths and weaknesses and demographic data. • Discussion will follow on how to best support student learning in the identified target areas.

  3. Audience Participation • The following slide illustrates CRCT results by subject over the last three years. • Which subject area is strongest? • Which subject area needs the most improvement?

  4. Needs Improvement Strongest Area

  5. School Demographics

  6. Even though Reading was the strongest subject area on the CRCT, there is a 6% decline in the African American population from 2013 to 2014. This change should be considered when planning for instruction.

  7. While student scores on the Science portion of the CRCT need the most improvement, all demographic areas made gains from 2013 to 2014 as a result of an increased focus on science during the 2013-2014 school year.

  8. Audience Participation • What factors contribute to a lower performance rate overall in science? • Science teachers: What assessment tools are used in the classroom to identify strengths and weaknesses with your students? • How can we, as a school, support improvement in this area? • Non-science teachers: What tasks do you use with your students that support STEM learning? If none, what tasks could be used?
