1. Core Team Expectations Iowa Alternate Assessment (IAA)
2. Step 1: Verify Student List Start with the list provided by the Office Assistants
Check to see that students on the list are still assessed through IAA.
Check to see if the teacher listed is (1) the correct provider and (2) if they were the provider last year
Please mark with * the students who are new to a teacher’s roster.
Add any students who are not currently listed.
Under the list of students, list the teacher name(s) and their email address(es)
Copy the roster for your own records and give the original to Gretchen.
4. Early September Check in with Teachers to determine:
If they attended the ICN session produced by the DE
If not, or if they still have questions, encourage them to watch the webinars on the DE website
If they have a copy of the timeline and understand the due dates
5. Prior to September 30 Check in with teachers
Ask if they have received an email from the DE regarding a login to the IAA system
Ask (and assist if needed) if they have signed into the IAA rating scale system
Ask (and assist if needed) if they have completed the Student Profile for all students on the IAA
6. Student Profile Demographic information will be prepopulated from the web IEP
Teachers may need to enter some information, such as grade, content area, etc.
IAA District Coordinator is an LEA representative who is the coordinator of all district-wide assessments (many times this is a principal)
Teachers enter Learner Characteristics
Teachers complete a Mastery Checklist indicating what Rating Scale Items in each content area have been mastered
Teachers view the revised content areas and choose 15 rating scale items from each of the content areas of math, reading (and if applicable) science
9. Prior to November 30 October to November 30 is the 1st Reporting Period on 15 items selected in September
Check in occasionally to see if teacher is collecting evidence for each of the 15 rating scale items for math, reading (and if applicable) science
Prior to November 30, ask if they have completed the reporting of rating scale items
10. Prior to january 30 December 1 through January 30 is the 2nd Reporting Period on 15 items selected in September
Check in occasionally to see if teacher is collecting evidence for each of the 15 rating scale items for math, reading (and if applicable) science
Prior to January 30, ask if they have completed the reporting of rating scale items
11. Prior to March 30 February 1 through March 30 is the 3rd Reporting Period on 15 items selected in September
Check in occasionally to see if teacher is collecting evidence for each of the 15 rating scale items for math, reading (and if applicable) science
Prior to March 30, ask if they have completed the reporting of rating scale items
