  3. ERNST ROHM as a threat Ernst Rohm believes in many Socialist ideas such as 1. Profit Sharing for Industries 2. Abolition of income unearned by work (factory owners, wealthy) - Ernst Rohms “brown shirts” are fiercely loyal to him and number at about 2 million in 1933 -Rohm wants to FORCE THE REICHSWEHR TO JOIN THE SA TO CREATE A GERMAN ‘PEOPLES ARMY.’ THE REICHSWEHR PLEDGES THEIR ALLEGIANCE TO HITLER ON THE CONDITION THAT THEY KEEP THE SA UNDER CONTROL. ARE CONCENED ABOUT ROHM’S PLANS. THEIR ALLEGIANCE THRILLS HITLER.

JUNE 30, 1934: NIGHT OF THE LONG KNIVES (Operation hummingbird) -HIMMLERS SS moves against its old rival THE SA -100 to 200 SA leaders were shot by hand by the SS -ROHM, A PAST CHUM OF HITLER, was given the option of suicide rather than firing squad. THE SS HAS TO SHOOT HIM. KURT VON SCHLEICHER: The Chancellor of Germany during the Weimar Republic was assassinated by HITLER as well. Goebbels and Goering take advantage of this opportunity to kill some of their enemies as well.
