  2. "Equipping Individuals For Life" G N J Our Mission GNJ Provides programs and services that assist individuals with obtaining their career and/or personal goals as well as enhance, build and revitalize communities! Family Life Center

G N J Family Life Center Eligibility Criteria Out-of-School Youth Between 16-21 Low Income As Defined In WIA State Issued Picture ID Social Security Card Proof of Citizenship Selective Service (Male Only 18-25) In order to meet the criteria for the program, you must have at least one of the following in addition to the programs income requirements: Deficient In Basic Literacy Skills Homeless, Runaway, or Foster Child Pregnant or Parenting Youth Offender Youth With A Disability Disadvantaged

G N J Family Life Center Income Criteria • Income verification documents includes at least one of the following: • Copy of the paycheck stub OR • Food Stamp, TANF, Child Support, SSI, and/or SSDI printout • Proof of Unemployment (Letter of Determination Printout) or Lay off letter • and verification • The parent or youth can use a self-statement if he/she is not employed and the aforementioned documents do not apply. If the parent’s income is more than the poverty guideline for their family, the youth is not eligible for the program.

G N J Family Life Center THE GOALS OF WIA • To increase employment, as measured by entry into • unsubsidized employment; • To increase retention in unsubsidized employment six • months after entry into employment; • To increase earnings received in unsubsidized • employment for youth, adults and dislocated workers; • and • To enhance customer satisfaction for participants and for • employers.

  7. G N J Family Life Center I-X-Cel Assessments & Training The I-X-Cel Assessment is not a test. It’s used to determine your current employability skills in the areas of math, reading and workplace communication. GREEN TECH Each participant will be required to attend Green Tech Training for information on “Green” careers. DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE Participants who do not have a diploma /equivalent will be required to attend GED classes.

  8. G N J Family Life Center Train-To-Work Program Includes: Leadership Development Practical Application Working With Teams Employability Training On-Site Work Experience (Paid or Unpaid) On-The-Job, Occupational or Specialty Training Employment Placement

G N J Family Life Center Leadership & Working With Teams 7 Leadership Competencies include 1 Can Demonstrate Readiness to Secure and Hold a Job 2 Can Listen Well To Others 3 Can Participate in Self-Estimation 4 Can Set and Achieve Personal Development Goals 5 Can Define the Functions, Skills, and Attitudes of Effective Leaders 6 Can Find Information Through Researching 7 Can Keep a Weekly Schedule and Calendar

  10. G N J Family Life Center Employability & Work Readiness 5 Trainings include: 1 Resume Development 2 Skills Analysis (Transferable Skill Sets) 3 Workplace Basics 4 Customer Service (Satisfying Your Internal and External Customers) 5 Employer Expectations

G N J Family Life Center OJT, Occupational, Specialty Training Placements May Include: Hospitality /Casino Sites Construction Warehouse & Manufacturing Offices (That Provide Customer Service Opportunities) Health and Personal Care Automotive/Transportation IT & Data Entry Customer Service Representative

G N J Family Life Center What’s Next? • Complete The Eligibility Documents • Complete The I-X-Cel Assessment • You Must Be Willing To Commit To The Required Hours • Upon Successful Completion, You Will Be Placed in at least one of the following: • Work Experience • On-The-Job Training • Occupational Training Opportunity
