College Go Week • September 26 – 30, 2011 • Determine which college is a good fit before applying • This is a state initiative to promote awareness of college in all grades – we encourage seniors to apply soon! • Counselor can request fee waiver if on free/reduced lunch
College Visits Call Ahead • Appointment with College Department heads- ex., education, engineering, nursing • Reservation for tours-visit dorms If you have a friend on campus • Visit a class • Stay overnight if possible Get documentation • Students allowed two college visits during their junior and senior year when attending with a parent • Bring proof of visit to the attendance office

COLLEGE APPLICATION • Apply before Thanksgiving even if you have not taken the SAT/ACT • Fees waived • On-line applications preferred • Most applications are available to be printed from the Internet • Print Counselor page • Students must come to Guidance with their completed application (or verification via on-line submission) and complete an orange request form for transcripts, test scores, and counselor page to be released to the prospective institution. See Mrs. Martin, guidance secretary, for form. This is needed for every application.
