Issues • Current Membership July 2012 – 7,861 • Membership July 2007 – 8936 • Average Membership drop - 2.4%/year • Configuration of districts is impacted by transportation routes • Options: • 6 Districts • Average membership – 1,310 • Trend - 1,250 in 2 years • 5 Districts • Average membership – 1,572 • Trend - 1,250 in 10 years Approved Feb. 9, 2013

Recommendation • Redistrict to 5 districts • Pros • Reduces need to redistrict later • Provides larger Membership pools from which to draw leaders • Fewer lions having to hold multiple positions • More Lions available to fill district and state committees • More Lions available may increase quality of leaders • Improves District and State Council finances • More members/district increases administrative revenues • Fewer districts reduces state council expenses Approved Feb. 9, 2013

Recommendation (cont) • Redistrict to 5 districts • Con • Increases number of clubs per district • Current 37-58 clubs • Post : 65-80 clubs • Merging 8 districts to 5 districts will be challenging • Election and reorganization of officers • Transition of reports, directories, financial goals • Impact on revenue for NCLI • Acceptance and ownership by district leaders • District leaders may not feel sense of urgency to grow members after membership exceeds 1,250 Approved Feb. 9, 2013
