Global Problems • Some parts of the world membership falling, e.g. USA, Australia, RIBI • Other parts growing fast, e.g. India • Same cost of maintaining a District whether large or small Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland
Particular Problems • 5 Districts with more than 5,000 members • Districts with more than 130 clubs • Districts covering 5 countries (e.g. East Africa, Central Asia) and several languages • All desperate to split but RI can’t afford it with static overall membership Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland
RIBI numbers • RIBI: 29 Districts and 53,000 members • Italy: 11 Districts and 42,000 members • RIBI had net loss 1071 members in 2011-12 (2% of total membership) • All Districts in RIBI showed losses Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland
RI strategy • Requested membership plans from 12 areas worldwide • 3 year membership growth and retention plans requested • If plans unacceptable, re-districting will be imposed Rotary International in Great Britain & Ireland
