Champe Golf Cornerstones I. Sportsmanship • Respect Self: Honesty - Cheating and other forms of rule breaking, both school and golf related, will not be tolerated and may result in dismissal from the team. • Respect Others: Golden Rule - Treat others the way you want to be treated. • Respect Property: Temper Tantrums - Don’t take it out on your equipment or a place someone else enjoys. II. Team Pride - Winning builds pride, but so does hard work, attitude, and commitment. You can’t control the outcome but you can always control your effort. III. Always Earned Never Given - The amount of playing time each player receives will depend on attitude, skill level, commitment to the team, absences, injuries and match/tournament situations. Never expect to be given anything.
Golf Dress Code and Equipment I. Golf Dress Code - No cargo shorts/pants, no jeans, or gym shorts will be allowed while at any golf course. Golf shorts or pants will only be acceptable. - A collard shirt will be worn and tucked in at all times while at any golf course. - Hats are acceptable but should not be a distraction. - Students selected for the 2019 John Champe Golf Team will be required to purchase and wear team golf gear ($25 - $100) to be eligible for match/tournament play. II. Equipment - Every golfer will need their own set of clubs, golf bag, golf balls, tees, etc… - If you are looking to buy clubs this off season, please remember equipment does not solve mistakes but it can make a difference. Individual nuances such as length, shaft, and lie of the club head affect every golfer. If interested, many local pro-shops and retailers will perform golf ball fittings, putter fittings, and club fittings. - Buy comfortable golf shoes/cleats because you will be wearing and walking in them often.

To reach every family, translate your messages into more than 70 languages before you send. - Remind's guidelines, practices, and features have been designed to protect the safety and security of users and their personal information. - II. Twitter - Twitter is a service to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages. - All you need to use Twitter is an internet connection or a mobile phone. - When you create an account search John Champe Golf or @GolfChampe. Then click or tap the follow button to stay connected with Champe Golf 2019 news, summaries and headlines.
Parental Involvement and Spectators I. Parental Involvement - Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child’s game and our team. Since golf is ultimately an individual sport, outside support is critical. However, your student’s development will ultimately be his/her responsibility. - Improvement is directly correlated with the amount of practice time involved. Anything you can provide, from lessons and equipment to emotional support and attending matches / tournaments will help your child become a better golfer. II. Spectators - At tournaments and matches, parents and spectators are encouraged to come watch and support the golfers but there will be no parents or spectators allowed during qualifying week. Contact Coach Lucchino if you have any questions. Go, Knights! - At tournaments and matches all spectators must stay on the cart path or in the rough. No player is allowed to receive advice or talk to spectators. - Please avoid the use of cell phones on the golf course. Please turn them off when following players.
Attendance and Transportation I. Attendance - Every golfer must attend all practices and matches including qualifying week if you intend to participate. Please schedule vacations before the start of qualifying week. If conflicts arise, please notify Coach Lucchino beforehand. - Unexcused absences will not be tolerated. Students must be willing to commit to practice to be considered for the golf team. Practice attendance will be a factor in determining teams and playing time. - An unexcused absence will result in loss of playing privileges for the next match/tournament. Three unexcused absences from practice will result in being dropped from the team. - A calendar with practice, match, and tournament dates, times, and location will be included in the welcome packet to those individuals who are selected for the 2019 John Champe Golf Team. II. Transportation - Every golfer must provide their OWN transportation during qualifying week and to practice. If any student decides to car pool with another student to or from any golf related activity a parental note must submitted to Coach Lucchino by August 5, 2019. - Transportation will be provided to and from all matches and tournaments. Team members are expected to remain at the tournament/match site until all scores have been posted. Team members may leave with parents after being signed out.
