7. II. The Effects of These Endeavors • Tenant farming and sharecropping left former slaves at the mercy of landowners because they could not pay rent back • The Freedman’s Bureau was criticized because it didn’t provide the land necessary for former slaves to get back on their feet

8. Sharecropping Simulation You and your group are sharecroppers in the South after the 13th Amendment has been passed. In order to set up farms, you need to buy items from the general store.
