  1. STUDY HALL BLUE CARDS OUT AND ON DESK SITTING IN YOUR SEAT NOT WALKING AROUND THE CLASSROOM

  2. Written Response May 6th Earlier this year we learned that heat can be transferred many ways. List all the ways heat can be transferred and give an example of each type. Brainstorm first, then construct your sentences.

  3. Written Response May 6th Heat can be transferred many ways through conduction, convection and radiation. An example of conduction would be frying an egg in a pan on a hot stove. An example of convection would be boiling water to cook pasta. Lastly an example of radiation would be warming your hands over a fire.

  4. Let’s see how much you know… • Worksheets will be completed independently • This means no talking, not up wondering around • You will raise your hand if you need help • Questions???

  5. 6.P.3 EOG Review: • Heat transfer through: • Conduction • Convection • Radiation

  6. Mr. Parr’s Heat Transfer song • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wr8Z4SCETPs

  7. Alphabet Book: Conduction • A type of thermal energy transfer that moves through direct contact with other atoms. Usually seen in solids.

  8. Conduction • Video with Sammy & James http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo5unaiXYR4 • Marshmallows on spoon or stick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlweqsnC5R4

  9. Conduction Remember the hot soup spoon, a pan on the stove, or the marshmallows melting quicker on the metal spoon!

  10. Alphabet Book : Convection • A type of thermal energy transfer that moves in currents. Usually seen in liquids and gasses.

  11. Examples of Convection Currents

  12. Boiling Water

  13. Blue Ice/Red WaterConvection Experiment • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPl3foajmcw&autoplay=1&app=desktop

  14. Convection • As atoms get hotter they rise and bump into other atoms. As they get cooler they fall. Remember Boiling water, or hot air balloon, or blue ice experiment!

  15. Alphabet Book: Radiation • When heat is transferred through electromagnetic waves.

  16. Radiation Explanation from a Nutty Professor Start on 2:00 minutes. End at 4:30 • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WnYfUVE3kc

  17. Radiation • Remember the sunshine, melting marshmallows in front of a fire, or a light bulb. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ci77-qIQv8
