Essential Question • How do we attain success and excellence? • How are success and excellence related to one another?
Instructions • Prepare a paper with your name, class period, and date. The title of the lesson is “Success and Excellence”. • Observe the following slides and define success and excellence. • Answer the question: How is success related to excellence?
Aptitude An aptitude is a component of a competency to do a certain kind of work at a certain level, which can also be considered "talent". Aptitudes may be physical or mental.
Success • Success is measuring one’s accomplishments against the accomplishments of others. Beating the previously set world record for track athletes. Getting a better grade than your friend on a test. Success is all about getting it done. Beating out the competition.
Excellence • Excellence is all about one’s personal best. Running a mile faster than the mile you ran yesterday. Getting 100 on a test because you are capable of such a grade. Getting up in the morning and giving 100% of your efforts to everything you tackle for the day. Excellence is all about potential. How much effort are you willing to put in to attain the absolute best results of which you are capable.
So, is beating out the competition the best you’ve got? Or can you really dig deep and throw your heart and soul into what you’re doing? Everyone will achieve success at one point or another in life. The hard part is choosing to strive for excellence.
