Adaptation • An adaptation of a cactus is having spikey leaves to protect it from being eaten. • Mimicry • Some non-poisonous butterflies use mimicry to mimic poisonous butterflies. • Instinct • I have an instinct to breath. • Camouflage • A polar bear uses camouflage to look like snow, to get its food.
Big Idea Review • Plant Adaptations: • Color: attracts different animals to the flower • Odor: attracts different animals to the flower • Protection: spikes, tree bark keep the plant safe and living • broad leaves: collecting sunlight • Thick waxy leaves: helped to hold water • Camouflage blend in
Big Idea Review (cont.) • Body Temperature: • Blubber is an extra layer of fat to help keep animals warm in cold environments • Big ears help lose body heat on hot days • Cause and Effect • The odor and colors cause the bees to come • more flowers-> more food -> more bees!
Big Idea Review (cont.) Cactus have a thin stem to store water. It has tiny leaves called spines instead of large broad leaves. The spines keep the cactus from losing water.
Big Idea Review (cont.) • Looks like a twig->My guess its that it uses mimicry , It could be that it uses camouflage to blend in, this adaptation could help it get food or protect itself. • Environment • Forest, on plants, near leaves, they can be on the ground, on the brown or beige part
