  3. Major Cities The major cities in the Great Plains are San Angelo, Midland Odessa, Lubbock, and Amarillo.

  4. Rivers The Great Plain rivers are the Mississippi river, Missouri river, Republican river, Platte ,and the Saskatchewan river. Republican-> River

  5. Wildlife GRASSLAND are the most endangered ecosystem in North America. Across the continent 42 birds species depend on grasslands for breeding.These 9 grasslands birds are featured, or unique, to the northern Great Plains: mountain plover, long- billed curlew, ferruginous hawk, McCown’s and chestnut-collared longspurs, lark bunting, and finally the Baird’s and Cassin’s sparrows!

  6. The History of the Great Plains! The Great Plains were long inhabited by the Native Americans, that roamed the grasslands and due to the wholesale slaughter by the settlers and the U.S army were nearly extinct of the nineteenth century!

  7. “What’s the Climate!?” Well it depends. In spring, the temperature is about 60-80 degrees fahrenheit. In the summer, the temperature is 89-95 degrees fahrenheit in the morning, but in the afternoon the temperature dips to about 61-68 degrees fahrenheit. In the fall it’s like 61-65 degrees fahrenheit.   8. Fun Facts About this Region 1. Did you know that our region is called the panhandle because we border New Mexico and Oklahoma! 2. We average about 15 - 20 inches of rain per year. 3.We have the deer, pronghorns, and prairie dogs! (It's time for a "ton" of fun.)
