One-to-one • College approached by HR Manager at Lindum Group to provide one-to-one tuition for an employee (Gary) company wanted to promote to foreman, but had concerns about poor literacy skills • Using H&S at work as a theme, Gary received an hour’s tuition/week • Over two year period (05/06) has achieved C&G 3792 Adult Literacy Certificate @ E3 and is now working towards L1
ESOL Support for Eastern European Migrant Workers at DSG, Newark • Flexible delivery to accommodate shift patterns • Contextualised learning resources/materials • 100% success rate for ESOL L1 cohort (12 week course, 36 GLHs) • Featured on the LSC’s website as a model of best practice in relation to partnership working and employer engagement!
Numeracy Support for LCC Employees working towards NVQs • Dual accreditation (C&G 3792 Adult Numeracy Certificate from E3 to L2) • Blended Learning Model (“Sure Skills” + regular tutorials with a SfL specialist) • Support available if required from SfL buddies within LCC – trained to L2 (1st Unit of C&G 9295 + top-up training)
