  1. Crabtree India What Are The Different Types Of Plug Sockets? The universal sockets are among the most widely used types of sockets. They can also feature spring loaded pins. The unique design allows these sockets to fit a wide range of sizes of plugs. But there are some limitations too. However, there are many different types of sockets with their unique set of advantages. You should consider their different benefits before making the right choice for your building. Plug Sockets There are more than a dozen types of electrical outlet plugs being used in the world today. These are differentiated in terms of the letter assigned to them by the ITA. These letters start with A, but don’t represent any logical order. They have been used arbitrarily. The sockets designed for the Indian market are used for the Type D plugs and feature 3 pins. One of these pins is the ‘ground’ pin that connects to the earth. These plug sockets work for voltage range of 220V to 240V at 5 Amp. The Type D sockets can also be used with some other types of plugs, especially Type C. However, they shouldn’t be used to accept any other type of plugs. 2. Crabtree India Shuttered Sockets The Shuttered socket can be considered as another conventional type of socket that has been used as the British safety standard. The top hole within the socket will have a shutter within it, thus giving it the unique name. It will require using a top pin for opening the shutter. Only once the shutter is opened, the socket’s live part gets activated. The Shuttered socket is relatively safer because it will not be activated unless the top shutter is opened. A child cannot get an electric shock unless they open the top hole and then contact any of the other holes. This is almost impossible to do, and thus makes these sockets safer. Types of Electrical Outlet Covers There are also different types of electric socket covers meant for different types of uses, providing different levels of safety. 1. Outlet Plugs These are the most cost-effective socket covers. They plastic plugs can be easily installed and work as reliable placeholders. It is recommended to use them for plugs which are hardly used. They are not recommended for frequent uses. 2. Outlet Covers There are a variety of outlet cover designs that can be used for different purposes. In fact, these electric socket covers are designed for different types of uses.
