Format and Content • The World Bank and UN co-chair the SC • Combination of plenary and breakout sessions • Main plenary in Khartoum, breakout sessions in Khartoum/Juba • Sessions chaired by GNU/GoSS and by donors • General Pledging Session: • donor commitments to overall recovery and development assistance • including funding through the two MDTFs • for 2007-2008 • Review of: • Recent progress in recovery, economic, social and institutional developments • political and security areas • government’s plans and budgets for 2007
Topics for Khartoum • Progress on CPA (and DPA?) Organization and Responsibilities • World Bank and UN jointly responsible for organizing • Government responsible for reports, presentations on progress • UN, WB and Donors to co-organize specific sessions (working with government counterparts) • World Bank and UN will co-host events • Pre-meetings to agree on topics and finalize the agenda • Invitations jointly by WB VP for Africa and UN SRSG, by Sep. 25 • Documents circulated by GNU/GoSS and WB/UN/IMF by Oct. 7 • Joint communiqué issued by WB, IMF and UN after SC.
